Dealing With Loneliness By Yourself
The past may have included a full time position that was enjoyed at a level not appreciated or recognized until after the expected but premature retirement.
The newly discovered power of loneliness is of far greater significance than any minor initial health issue. It’s permanent, long term and can grow in effect on a basically healthy body bringing changes and challenges not expected or wanted.
Unless suitably dealt with loneliness can introduce an array of unhappy feelings. These could provide the grass roots to a huge number of mental and physical challenges meeting the needs of the medical profession while renaming yours.
The decision to deal with it must be made. A plan must be put in place as soon as possible. Other people may be available for comment but this issue should be dealt with from a collection of personal discoveries, decisions and plans.
Boredom must not be confused with loneliness. This is more a side effect brought on through a long season of not having a plan for a future not just an afternoon.
The traditional long term advice has been to join a group, visit a church, or get more involved with family needs and tasks. None of these activities may appeal or even solve the problem. Long term results may even contribute to yet another string of challenges which don’t have obvious or popular well mannered solutions.
Little or no knowledge of the computer but with sufficient interest in learning may justify a visit to the local library. This traditional service now contains a collection of other benefits other than books with the intent of meeting the changing need of the local community. There is usually a computer collection available for loan or lessons on the premises. At least one of the staff could show you how to turn it on.
A good session on the Internet whilst getting friendly with a new social networking site known as ‘facebook’ should open some strong doors to some very common challenges.
Research into a collection of simple words relating to your challenge, interests or basic curiosity are the beginnings of research. Much can be learnt by getting comfortable with the processes, digging deeper into the content whilst developing a simple relationship with the processes to build quality relationships the people.
As with all serious programs you need to make a decision on focus. Select an area that you are interested in and already have a passion with skills or an area that has spoken to your curiosity for a long time but never been truly discovered.
The topic that has been your personal interest for a long time will provide the greatest surprise. The existing ‘expert’ will have the potential to become a ‘world expert’ whilst providing contact with individuals or groups that can excite the current knowledge.
The most important need with the computer is to reject any form of fear. This has been the deep and underlying reason why so many won’t get comfortable with it. Think of it as a white box on a desk that can be discovered in very special ways on daily basis. If children can work with it and even make money from it we should be able to at least share our knowledge and gifts and make some friends.
